In 2013, Josh Turnbow began working with Directv - creating shows for their newly-formed original content network - Audience. As SR Manager of Production and Development, Josh worked closely with network executives to produce and manage scripted and unscripted shows, overseeing all aspects of production: development, budgets, talent, locations, logistics, post-production and the technical elements of broadcast and streaming delivery.

In the fall of 2015 Josh launched an Original Documentary Team within Audience. Developing, writing and directing, and producing a full slate of unscripted original content for Audience Network. By creating an aggressive, highly cost efficient production model, Turnbow and his team were able to rapidly make high quality, deeply compelling content in a short period of time. Ranging from feature length documentaries to documentary series, Turnbow’s work became some of the most watched on the network with millions of views and many millions more impressions.

After completing feature documentaries The Observed Life, American Standoff and The Sign, Turnbow began the Beacons of Hope Documentary Series. Part of AT&T’s Believe Initiative, a program dedicated to giving back to communities around the country. The first film in the series was Beacons of Hope: Chicago. This documentary follows Chicago citizens rejecting the chaos of their violent neighborhoods, working to better lives and save the city they love. The second film in the series was Beacons of Hope: Dallas - the story of the people helping the homeless in the city of Dallas.

In his most recent film One Life, Turnbow worked closely with The United Nations World Food Program, to tell the tragic story of the Rohingya refugees living in Bangladesh and who are often referred to as “the world’s most persecuted minority.”

Turnbow’s films have premiered at such notable Film Festivals as AFI Docs, the Cleveland International Film Festival.

In 2020 AT&T closed the Audience Network. Living in Idaho, Turnbow is currently developing multiple film and television projects.
